Wrestlemania XXX: Undertaker's Match

Now first and foremost, I'm not going to bullshit myself. I didn't see the match but I have heard the results and the opponent of the Undertaker. And this is my take on it all.

I started watching wrestling with my spouse back in '05. One of the first matches I saw was Batista vs. Chris Benoit [may he rest in peace]. I instantly took a liking to the latter and got hooked. Not long after that, I saw the Undertaker. And he grabbed my attention even faster than Benoit. Why? Because he has one hell of a commanding presence, one that no one has really ever been able to match or even beat throughout the years.

I mean, seriously. Who even uses psychological aspects and warfare when they fight like the Undertaker does? The only other person I can immediately say who used to was the Boogeyman. But he quit/retired/something years ago so because of that alone, I almost don't really count him. Just because he hasn't continued to maintain his presence and such.

Now there is a point to my background with wrestling before anyone inquires.

All the streaks that the Undertaker had, prior to this loss, were already a feat in itself. And there isn't just his Wrestlemania streak we need to look at, but his overall career. He's been one of the best wrestlers ever, whether he's been in a solo match or tag team with Kane as one half of the Brothers of Destruction.

Still, when all is said and done, we also need to remember something else; he's almost 50 now. He's been in this industry for longer than I've watched it. I know because my dad remembers him and a few others, especially Hulk Hogan.

I remember the Undertaker supposedly saying he was intending to retire earlier this year or sometime in 2013 I believe. While the news saddened me, I wouldn't honestly blame him. He's had a good run and it's his choice in the end.

But furthermore, when all is said and done, I agree wholeheartedly with a comment I saw on a critic's website. It's not the exact quote but the message is close enough. More or less though, it said that in the end, no one's going to give enough of a damn that Brock took away the Undertaker's streak. Why? Because he'll never have the respect and charisma that the Phenom has had and kept for so long.

So true ... so very, very true.

Furthermore, this was bound to happen sometime. Even if it hadn't been this year or to Brock Lesner, Undertaker would have had to lose at one point in time. I admit, I never would have seen it being to someone like Brock and I'm pretty sure few others did also. But the fact is, it still occurred.

While his defeat is akin to the death of his reign, it's not as sad to me as it probably should be. Why not? Because when I think on him, I have too many fond memories. I haven't seen many times anyone has been able to defeat him and what few times I did see such events, most were cheats and unfair endings. Seriously, illegal items like brass knuckles and such were used but of course, the damn referees never saw even if the viewers did.

So because of the cheating aspects, I don't really view those as losses, per se. Not official ones anyways.

I'm not trying to say no one shouldn't be sad or upset because even now, I'm still a bit astounded. But I'm not going to let it bother me for the rest of my life. Besides, who says he can't get revenge on Brock should he decide to stay in the wrestling industry long enough?

That's my view on it all. And to help properly celebrate and decorate this, I'm including a few things as a tribute to my forever favorite wrestler, now and forever, The Undertaker.

Homosexuality Hints In Song Lyrics

So ... I have to inquire a simple question in regards to this.

Even if there are hints of someone being a gay or lesbian in the lyrics of a song ... so what? Seriously, what harm is there?

I'm bringing this up over a long, detailed and incredibly unfairly written blog entry I saw about Disney's Frozen. While I myself haven't seen the movie, I have heard it's most famous song "Let It Go". And while there probably are indeed suggestions in which one could interpret the main heroine, Elsa, is possibly a lesbian or even bisexual, I still stand by my question.

So fucking what? If it bothers people that much, don't watch it. Pretty simple solution, really.

But let's not bullshit ourselves, shall we? And thus here's my thoughts and rants.

The Disney movies haven't really been 'kids-friendly' for years. And with myself having grown up around most of the movies and seen them for myself, I know perfectly well what I'm talking about and especially now that I'm not as naive as I used to be.

The first memory that comes to my mind is the movie Dumbo. It not only has a young elephant taken away from it's own mother as if the CPS were doing so to a toddler, but we see him later on in the film sipping alcohol through a bucket.

Mind you, I never realized that it was liquor nor understood why what seemed like 'water' made him and his mouse companion hiccup so much. But now that I think back ... that's pretty graphic and dark for a movie rated 'G'.

And yet, my parents never once were worried about me or my brother resorting to alcohol in order to forget of our sorrows.

So why is Frozen given so much more hell? That plus some other recent movies at that matter? Is it only because of the innuendos and suggestions of someone possibly wanting to not be a heterosexual?

You know what I think? Grow the fuck up! Seriously!

We live in a nation that is all about freedoms, including those of religion and speech. So yes, I realize that everyone is entitled to their opinions. But at the same time, there's a difference in speaking one's mind as opposed to coming off as downright rude and discriminatory.

Just ... dear gods.

Besides, there are tons of other innuendos that can be referred to from the lyrics of "Let It Go". Ever consider it may not refer to her sexuality at all? Because ... I have. What I hear is a young woman wanting to forget about traditions, hassles in her life and finally wanting to be who she wants to with little to no worries.

Could this include being a lesbian or bisexual? Yes, it is possible.

Is that a proven fact in the song? No, no it isn't.

So fuck off for those who try to insist it'll 'corrupt our children' and crap like that. Seriously, just shut up.

People willingly choose to or not to become gay/lesbian/bisexual. It's never something that a media source or whatnot forces upon us. No, we all go down those roads from pure, free will.

And something else I've always believed ...

If God didn't want people to try other orientations out besides being a heterosexual, we wouldn't have free will or any ability to experiment. I'm pretty damn sure about that much anyways.

But the very fact we have just that is, to me, a sign that we are not only permitted to be whoever we wish to but furthermore, encouraged.

I'm so sick of everyone on the news or wherever speaking of non-heteros as if they were the plague. It's not at all fair, more so in a nation where we continue to go against our same written freedoms and beliefs every single day.

I'm not anti-patriotic of America. Really, I'm not. Both my grandfathers served proudly in separate wars; one in Korea and another in World War II. And may they both rest in peace because I truly am proud of them both.

But sometimes, it is so damn hard to begin to say that I'm proud to live here when so many people make me sick.

Really though ... we say we have freedoms but ... none of them are truly just that. And they're all written in a legal document, they have been for years now rather.

If we can't promise them, it truly does seem redundant to vow to others who reside here and try to embrace and enjoy those on a regular basis.

But we have so many who also try to insist that other individuals are 'wrong' for their orientations, religions, any other forms of beliefs. And you know what? Those are the people that make the worst knots in my stomach form. Because they're the exact proof on why I can't stand this country sometimes. We're just so full of hypocrites ... ugh!

No one has the right or ability to judge others for what they want in their lives. And yet, that's exactly what so many do.

And it's all more the reason that if they don't ever leave this nation, it makes me wish I could snap my fingers and teleport away to somewhere more tolerable of religion and sexual orientations Because ... I just really can't stand most of what people bitch and whine of.

There are so many more vital things we should be focusing on besides orientations, let alone those types of mindsets being implied through songs.

Sometimes ... I really just feel that many people don't have their priorities straight. And it pisses me off so damn much.

Anyways, I had to get that off my chest. I'm not expecting anyone to side with or against me though do feel free to read if you so wish.

Until next time,
